Develop Your Bridge Skills

Celsus Library (The proof of the importance of reading)

This library in Ephesus was built in 110 A.D for the Celsus Polemaeanus ( A Roman Governor).  Look at the beauty! This beauty reflects the respect of ancient people to reading. Ephesus was the commercial center of the ancient world. Artemis Temple in Ephesus was the one of the seven wonders of the ancient times.
Did you also know that St. John brought the Virgin Mary to Ephesus after the death of Christ? She spent her last days in a small house in Ephesus. How could you know that, if you don't read about Turkey?

No need to sayit  in any other way: If you want to develop your bridge skills, you must read. Read whatever you find.

In this lesson I will give you some hints to improve your bridge: We will learn how to choose the best card to play.

The first player of a trick can chose any card she likes. The last player must chose a card so as to win the trick.. So, in this lesson I will tell about the second and third players plays of a trick:

1) If you are second player of a trick
a- Play low if first player of the trick plays low.
b- Cover honor with honor.
c- If opponent  plays top honor of a sequence, wait until the last honor to cover.

Please find below some examples about the play of second player of a trick:

If 1.Player plays J, 2.Player must not cover this first honor of sequence in order to make two tricks..

1) If you are third player of a trick.

a- Play high: Because, as a third player you need to win the trick or promote your or partner's cards..

b- Avoid blocking your partner with your high card..

Please find below some examples about the play of second player of a trick:

When 1.Player plays Q (probably top of a sequence), if 2.Player plays A, 3.Player must play K(deblocking). If you don't play K, when your partner obtain a lead and lead clubs, you will win the trick with K, but you will not have any clubs to return..
