You
can also establish tricks by way of stealing your high card from
defender's highest card..

Look
at the hand diagram at the left. You don't have any chance to make any
tricks if East was holding A.
If West is holding A
you can make a trick:
You lead a card from hand to dummy's King. If
West does not overtake with ace,
you will make a trick with dummy's K.
If West overtakes with A,
you can play 8.
Later, when you get lead, you can make a trick with your K.
You may create a trick by stealing your high card, if it is at the right
place (after opponent's master card). This is also the definition of
finessing. So, if you think that one can not steal his own card, you may
use finnesing instead of stealing..
